Sorrow

In the past 2 days I have heard many many mormon members post that they are hurt and sick over the news of the LDS church not allowing children of married or cohabitating SS members to be baptized or have a name blessing as a baby. MANY many LDS members have said they don't understand WHY. They know this is hurtful, but they still follow the prophet, and this is what the prophet has said. So, I ask you, if something feels so very very wrong to so many people, members or not.... how can this be right? How can this be justified?  Because, deep down, don't you KNOW that this is hateful and wrong?  I do. It is wrong. I am taking a stand against this. I ask you to evaluate what you are being told to accept. Can this be right? Could something that is doing so much bad to so many CHILDREN be right?   I understand that the church has a right to limit its membership to whomever they want... but really, children?!  The church is discriminating and it's members are ignorant and I am so disappointed by the members of the church who are wholeheartedly embracing the "it's because we love you that we don't accept you" argument. You are not accepting others for who they are. Isn't it time that we all start fighting for love and inclusion and total acceptance. Isn't it time to stop the fighting?   I personally know women who were married to men and then divorced them and remarried while their husbands came out as gay and moved in with their partner. The kids of these unions were still raised LDS by their mother and the kids still lived with their father part time due to custody agreements. These children were still able to be baptized and blessed and still able to go with their youth groups to the temple and serve in their young women and young men presidency's. They were able to have the priesthood and serve the sacrament. They were able to be raised in the LDS church and baptized into it. But now children in this exact circumstance will not be allowed membership. How will this affect their relationship with their fathers? How will they bond with the kids in their church class who are all able to be baptized at the age of 8 while they watch.  They will not be able to have that special day for 10 more years. The boys who watch their friends get the priesthood at the age of 12 and pass the sacrament together- while they are excluded. They will have to stand by and watch as their youth groups plan temple trips and they can't go. How can this be called love? How can you all justify this?  What about the kids? What about the hurt and pain they will feel...    I want to make our world a better place and this new policy is a huge leap in the WRONG direction. You are not wrong for questioning policy- so many of you will agree that your initial thought was how bad this new policy is. You try to justify it. But why should you have to justify something that is so wrong? Shouldn't you listen and trust your own conscience? If this feels yucky and bad, then it probably is. Does this resemble the situation with blacks in the priesthood?  But because the leaders are the ones telling it to you, you just roll over and accept it?  Trust your own conscience. Ask the hard questions. Do what is right.  If this policy is about loving the children of gay couples, why do they feel hated (there are posts all over FB from SS couples expressing their feelings on this)?  Why do they feel hated? Why do we feel a pit in our stomachs? Why do we feel uneasy about this?   Let's live the 2nd commandment. Let's practice what we preach. Let's love others unconditionally and make this world a better place for our children.
