So, soccer season has begun!! We enrolled Gloria in soccer, and it is turning out to be fun for the whole family! Before her first practice this week, she had never touched a soccer ball (as far as I know)- and kept calling it "baseball" or "basketball" practice.
She went to practice, and then her first game on Saturday. It was funny to watch her play... she didn't know what to do! We kept yelling at her to kick the ball- but the other kids were kicking the ball, when would it be her turn? After prompting her over and over and letting her know that it was OK to take the ball away from the kids on the other team without asking (how is that for going against everything we have taught her about manners), she finally kicked the ball for the first time. Travis and I probably over reacted, clapping for her and cheering and whistling... she was blushing and smiling and acting like she just won an Emmy. But that started something, after that, she was on fire. Since she is easily the tallest kid on either team (note that there were only 2 girls TOTAL on both teams combined), she could out run everyone and get to ball first. She really started getting in to it!! It was a fun day. We are excited for the next seven games!! (she is #7)
