Easter Egg Hunt

This year we were away from our family on Easter. We knew we had to find something to do for our little family. So we were really excited to get an invitation to a friends Easter Party. We were so excited for something to do (everyone out here has family all over the place, so we usually get stuck on our own for Holidays if we don't travel to our family. It can be kind of depressing at times. We have spent many Thanksgivings, Christmas's, and Easters on our own. It is hard because all of our friends have family close by. So, Holidays can be a bit depressing. We try to find fun new things to do on Holidays when we know we will be alone. I was worried about this Easter, however. All the Easter egg hunts are on Sundays, out here. So it was a relief that our friends had a party on Saturday and had the HUGEST egg hunt, ever. The kids could basically gather as many eggs as they wanted. The kids all had a blast!! We really enjoyed it so much more than going to Utah and standing in line for 30 minutes to run with 500 other kids to gather 3-5 eggs apiece and have it be done in 15 seconds instead of the 15 minutes it took us to do the egg hunt here. We really enjoyed ourselves and it made our egg hunting day really fun.
Growing up, my family always had the Easter bunny come one day early. He always came Friday night/Saturday morning. Then the Saturday was our day to celebrate Spring with easter bunny and easter basket and to be able to celebrate the true meaning of Easter on Sunday. We have continued that tradition with our kids. It is really enjoyable. We can do all sorts of fun things on Saturday, including easter baskets, so our kids eat all their treats and play with their stuff on Saturday. Then on sunday we don't have kids with a sugar high to take to church, and we can focus on what Easter is really about.
We enjoyed coloring eggs, all 5 dozen of them!! It was a nice Easter, we missed family, but it was nice to be home.
