Grayson. My boy. I love this kid so much. He is great! He is seriously the best son a mother could ever hope for. He is kind and courteous and honest and fun and FUNNY! He is interesting, brave and super smart. He enjoys playing music (guitar, piano and violing... plus he now wants to start the cello). He is crazy brave (just asked for a unicycle for his birthday and his goal is to be able to ride it in one week). He is competitive (extremely, in everything he does... it's a huge motivator for him) and he is so considerate of everyone around him. I cannot tell you how many times a day he asks me if I need help or if he can do anything for me. It is not limited to me. His whole life, teachers and other parents have always told me how he is always offering to help and telling them "thank you for your great lesson today" and looking out for kids that might be feeling left out. He has influenced his group of friends for good. He has told me that at times the boys will start to make fun of someone less fortunate and how he will say "hey, don't talk bad about him" and then he will make an effort to go and befriend that kid. Gray is a naturally popular kid. Kids love to hang out with him because he is so nice to everyone. He is always looking for a good clean joke to tell his friends or a prank to play on his family. He is really funny. When Gray is around, you can't help but smile. He is really smart and has never had to work in school... until this year when we put him in an amazing school with only 20 kids and 5 teachers. Gray is pushed hard! He is in 5th grade, but we are hoping to have him finished with 6th grade math and starting 7th grade math by the end of this year. Because there are only 1-2 other kids working on math in his class with him at any time, the teachers can let him soar. And he soars. At everything. Science (he just dissected a heart after learning all the functions and parts) and is getting excited about dissecting an eye (we are very lucky to have a retna surgeon come in for the dissections). He is being taught by university and college professors. By many specialists. And he is loving it, enjoying it and thriving. He is very good at thriving wherever he is planted. But here, he can soar. Gray is so kind to his siblings. He is always willing to play with them and help them out. Everyone loves this kid. Gray also loves to sing. I have the pleasure of being the song leader in primary and he is a little song bird. And because he loves is so much and is so vocal about how cool it is to sing, the other kids have all followed his lead and the whole senior primary is now fabulous! And they love to sing and we have so much fun. I have no doubt that Gray is a big reason that we had some of our graduated 12 year olds come back and sing with us in the primary program... they did not have to, but they VOLUNTEERED! I will miss my son when he finally graduates in a year... but I am happy that he is progressing in life. This year, when we moved to our new home, Gloria was bitten by a dog and consequently decided that she no longer felt safe on our street. So, every day, I take the kids walking down the street. Every day ALL the girls cry and cry, Gray will walk back to the girls and offer to hold their hands or put him arm around them. He always encourages them. now the girls are doing better (2 months later) and he is still always checking on them to make sure they are OK and not scared. Gray rarely complains or says "no" to us. If we ask him to do something he always replies "OK!". I am a blessed mom. My kids are blessed to have such an amazing brother- they don't realize that there are kids out there who are afraid of their brothers or who don't like their brothers. Thankfully, they will never experience that. Gray takes his role as protector seriously. He is a great example for his siblings and friends.
