On Sunday morning, we woke up bright and early (no one was happy about that) so we could make it to church at 9:00am. It was early, and raining and cold and wet and dreary and we would have liked to stay in bed- but we also know how important church is. So, we got up and went to church. It was interesting. Then we all wanted to change out of church clothes before we headed out for the day, so we went home, changed and got ready to head out. On our agenda was the Tall Tree Grove in Redwood National Park. Then maybe Bull Creek Flats at Humboldt in Redwood National Park. But, as we were driving, the rain started to clear up and the sun was poking out.... we knew this might be our only opportunity to stop and see the beach before the rain started again (the forecast called for rail all Sunday and Monday). So, we altered our plans and found a beach to hang out at. We didn't have our swimsuits, so we told the kids to wade in the water, feet only. Hahaha! We spent a few hours at the beach, getting wet and sandy and muddy. The kids had a blast. It was a ton of fun. By the time we headed home from the beach, it was 5:00 and we took all the kids home for showers and dinner. Then we just played games and got warm the rest of the night. It was perfect. I am sad that we did not make it to Tall Tree Grove or Bull Creek Flats, but the kids really really wanted to go to the beach and I am glad we got to do that for them!!
