Another family tradition that we have is having "breakfast with Santa". It's the first Saturday of December every year. For us, this was year number 5 of going to have breakfast with Santa in Oakhurst. We are greeted by "Father Christmas" when we first arrive. Then we go get our pancakes and eggs. Then we get to go eat with Santa. The kids get to sit on his lap and tell him what they want for Christmas (which is sometimes an ABSOLUTE surprise to us, even though we talk with our kids about what they are going to ask Santa for every year... I guess between the car ride and the walk to the breakfast they change their minds!!). After sitting on Santa's lap they get a candy cane. Then they get to walk to the Christmas tree and pick out a stuffed animal (their favorite part) and then they also get to walk to the book table and pick out two brand new books! It is really quite a treat for the whole family. This year we met some friends there and it made the even a whole lot more fun. The kids had a blast! I had a blast with my best girl friends and Travis had a great time having some men to chat with. Here are the things the kids asked Santa for;
Gloria- Bow and Arrow (ummm.... to late, honey- there was no discussion about this, maybe she thought that it would be easier to ask mom and dad for permission if Santa left it for her under the tree).
Grayson- Pogo Stick... (this was the FIRST I heard about this, I reminded him that we got one last year... he said "oh yeah, I forgot". Previously he told me he was going to ask for more Skylanders, maybe during his time in line he has some time to re-think his Skylanders decision...?).
Cami- Shoes (she is the only child who stayed with the same item she told me she was going to ask for! She has been asking for new shoes for the past 4 weeks, she gave me AND Santa plenty of notice, so she will probably get what she asked for).
Olivia- Baby Doll (she had told me that she wanted new ballet shoes... but apparently when she got to Santa she decided against that?...)
Max- max loves balls and cars. His 2 favorite things in the world. So, he asked santa for some balls and cars- he has been super good this year so hopefully he will get what he asked for!
The kids had a blast! We had a blast!! We stayed and played until they were cleaning up and Santa was leaving. I hope the tradition continues for many more years, especially with our fun friends joining in the party!
